2023-2024 Lady Cougar Basketball Tryouts 7th and 8th Grade Girls ONLY Tryouts will be held from 6:30AM to 7:50AM The side doors by the weight room will be unlocked by 6:15am. 1st Round of Tryouts will be Nov. 8th (Wed) and Nov. 9th (Thurs). Final Round of Tryouts will be Friday, Nov. 10th. *All athletes must have a current CLEARED physical on file in order to try-out. Please use the TISD physical form available on the Creekside Park JH Athletic Website. Tryout Expectations: The expectation of all girls trying out is that they attend every day of try-outs, be on time, and ready to participate. Players are expected to try their best at every task, be flexible, be willing to change technical skills, and have a positive attitude regarding practice, teammates and coaches. Basketball Skills Tested: Shooting Lay Ups Passing Ball Handling Endurance Agility Game Situations Defensive Footwork *Along with testing the basic fundamentals of basketball, we will also be looking for coach-ability, attitude, work ethic, and leadership skills.* Additional Information: Please sign up on the try out sheet outside the coaches office if you are NOT in an athletics class but want to try out for basketball. Games will be every Thursday at 4:30 & 5:30 and practices will be most mornings at 6:30AM. Coaches will post a list of girls who make the 1st cuts Thursday evening on the Basketball(Girls) News page. Final cuts will be posted Friday evening. Girls who are not selected may request to speak with a coach about which specific skills they can improve on for next year. A & B teams will be decided later. There is a mandatory parent meeting for athletes that make the team on Monday, Nov. 13th at 5:15pm in the cafeteria. Nov. 13th and Jan. 23rd will be our ONLY after school practices for the season.
